Mohawk Carpets have fibers known as SmartStrand are made of DuPont™ Sorona® polymer. Mohawk is excited that this is a leader in fiber technology and is exclusive only to them. Mohawk Carpets also have the traditional features of high durability and good stain protection that does not disappear after a deep cleaning. All of these features are in a range of carpets in all sorts of beautiful styling and color variety.

Mohawk Carpets have some excellent warranty options. One of them is the Mohawk Limited Stain Resistance Warranty and it has 5, 10, 15, and 20-year options. This warranty makes the statement that their carpet is stain-resistant to most household foods and beverages. Foods and beverages with strong dyes (mustard and herbal tea for instance) are not included in this warranty nor are non-food stains and substances that change the color in carpets (bleaches, urine, etc).

They also have the Mohawk Limited Stain and Fade Resistance Warranty for Mohawk Colorfast Xylon® carpet. This warranty protects against staining by ordinary household substances plus it warrants against any permanent color change due to atmospheric contaminants (ozone, nitrogen oxides, etc) as long as they are not greater than one unit on the AATCC (American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists) Gray Scale used in the comparison of standards in color differences. This fading and discoloration also applies to permanent color change due to exposure to sunlight. The warranty options come in 10 or 15-year coverage plans. This warranty excludes substances like vomit, feces, and urine.

Mohawk also has another type of warranty on their carpets dealing with static electricity. Static electricity control is important with today’s sophisticated electronic devices in the home (computers, stereo systems, etc.). Mohawk warrants that the carpet will not discharge static in excess of 5.0 kilowatts. This warranty comes in 5, 10, 15, and 20-year options.

And Mohawk’s list of warranties just keeps going. They have warranties for wear, manufacturing defects, and texture maintenance. They do not have warranties for such mishaps as improper installation. Most carpets are installed by separate sub-contracting installers so Mohawk could not warrant their work. See what kind of installation warranties your installer has.

No carpet warranty can ever guarantee that you will not get stains on your carpet. So don’t depend on your Mohawk Carpet warranty as your maintenance plan. Do your best to be prudent about taking care of spills and vacuuming regularly and your carpet will last a long time.
